Hello Prairie Ridge families!
We hope everyone's Fall Break has gotten off to a wonderful start!
When we all return on December 1st, the Holiday Shop will officially be open for business! On Friday, Nov. 21st we hosted a special "Holiday Shop Preview" for the younger classes. Kindergarten students and 1st graders were paired up with a 5th grade buddy who helped them to write out a list of presents they are hoping to purchase for their families when the shop officially opens. The 5th graders then helped their buddies total up their "hoped for purchases" and gave them each a slip of paper with a total dollar amount. The dollar amounts that some of the students came up with were pretty high, but this total is the "if I could buy everything I want for everyone I care about" reflection of how generous our little ones are!!! What a great teachable moment about financial literacy, needs vs. wants and how to make holidays special without busting the bank. :-) During the holiday shop hours we will do our best to help your little ones shop with whatever funds they have in a way that gets them the biggest "bang" for their buck. We have items as low as $0.50 and the most expensive items are $12.00 each.
While this event is a small fundraiser for the school, we have chosen the lowest fundraising bracket and only receive 10% on each purchase in order to ensure the Holiday Shop is truly a good value for the students.
If you would like to volunteer to assist in the Holiday Shop during the week of December 1st we still have slots available! Just sign up online at the link below. The times the shop will be open are during classroom library times and a few "open shop" times during lunch and at the end of the school day. Feel free to sign up for one time slot or all of them! (So far, only our VP Tracey is brave enough to do that!)
Thanks again for all your support and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
